Warren Olney (1845-1917) was an American author and soldier who served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He was born in New York City and enlisted in the Union Army in 1861. He served in the Army of the Potomac and was wounded at the Battle of Shiloh. After the war, he wrote a work about his experiences at Shiloh, titled Shiloh as Seen by a Private Soldier. He also wrote several other books, including The Story of a Regiment, The Story of a Cavalry Regiment, and The Story of a Brigade. Olney was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic and the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States. He died in 1917 in New York City.
