Wenceslao Fernández-Flórez (1919-2006) was a Spanish writer and poet. He was born in Madrid and studied at the University of Madrid. He was a member of the Generation of '27, a group of Spanish poets and writers who were active in the 1920s and 1930s. Fernández-Flórez wrote several books of poetry, including El árbol de la vida (The Tree of Life) and El canto de la tierra (The Song of the Earth). He also wrote several novels, including La casa de los sueños (The House of Dreams) and El ángel de la muerte (The Angel of Death). Fernández-Flórez was awarded the Cervantes Prize in 1989 for his contributions to Spanish literature. He was also awarded the National Prize for Literature in 1992. He died in 2006 in Madrid.
