William Denton is a Canadian author, editor, and librarian. He is the author of several books, including The Canadian Encyclopedia of Library and Information Science, The Canadian Encyclopedia of Library and Information Science, 2nd Edition, and The Canadian Encyclopedia of Library and Information Science, 3rd Edition. He is also the editor of the Canadian Library Association's journal, Library and Information Science. Denton has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto and a Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of Western Ontario. He has worked as a librarian in public, academic, and special libraries in Canada and the United States. He is currently the Head of the Library and Information Science Program at the University of Toronto. Denton is a Fellow of the Canadian Library Association and a member of the American Library Association. He is also a member of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions. He has served on the boards of several library and information science organizations, including the Canadian Library Association, the Canadian Association for Information Science, and the Canadian Association of Research Libraries.
