William Edwin Pratt (1890-1956) was an American author and journalist. He was born in New York City and attended Columbia University. He worked as a reporter for the New York Times and the New York Herald Tribune before becoming a freelance writer. Pratt wrote several books, including The Great Adventure (1925), The Great Adventure: The Story of the American People (1927), and The Great Adventure: The Story of the American People (1930). He also wrote several short stories and articles for magazines such as The Saturday Evening Post and Collier's. Pratt was a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the National Institute of Arts and Letters. He was also a member of the Authors League of America. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1930 for his novel The Great Adventure.
