End-of-term reading reflections are everywhere and most of them are useless. They ask questions whose answers can be assembled from a synopsis: "What was the theme? What did you learn? How did the character grow?" An AI can answer those in two seconds and make the student sound thoughtful in the process.
Here is a short list of prompts that resist that shortcut — prompts that reward the student who actually read the book. They pair well with the AI literacy framework we recommend for reading classes.
Only works if you read the book. An AI will supply a plausible moment, but rarely the student's moment. Grade on specificity to the student's reading, not on literary correctness.
