If Hitler's own account is to be believed, then it was only reluctantly that he entered into a fight against America. Though in this speech he does express certain biting criticisms of the American government and American culture, he also emphasizes that National Socialist Germany has no enmity towards the American people, nor even any interests that conflict with theirs. In Mein Kampf, Hitler even expresses admiration for American immigration policy, which at the time he was writing was very restrictive toward those of poor health and of non-European descent. [123]
