He read it again with a strange feeling that it was not finished. There were gaps here and there, especially in one place, as if the writer had meant to make it longer, then changed his mind. Clever as it was as a work of art, it lacked balance. At least two more chapters were needed to make it perfect in the eyes of a good editorial critic.
