Late that night Larose made up his mind finally that it was time for him to leave Mundulla station.
"It's no good remaining on," he told himself, "for one thing, because it's too dangerous now. Dice would do anything in his present mood, and that shooting this evening was as cool a piece of impudence as I've ever known. The beast just openly followed me down and didn't even take the trouble to make sure there was no one else about." He scowled angrily to himself. "But my gentleman's not done with me yet.
