DON JUAN: It wasn't my fault, some inflammation drove my fevered mind mad. My hand needed victims, I had to sacrifice them, in my desperation, and those at the heart of my course, I see I made prisoners of my insanity. It wasn't me, I swear! It was destiny! They knew my luck and ability. Oh! I feel my heart seized by an infernal dizziness. my soul is crossing life's desert without a goal, like a dry leaf whirled through the sky. I doubt. I fear.I sway. in my head a volcano burns.without will, my foot moves, my greatness is anything but, bowed before some great unknown dread. (A moment's pause) My pride never dreamed there could be any virtue but courage! I thought no less that the soul was destroyed with the flesh,.but today my heart wavers in me. I never believed in ghosts.! No!
