Homily, Shrine of Saint Cajetan-August 7, 2002.

Dear brothers, dear friends and faithful of Saint Cajetan, I want to greet all of you with these words of Saint Paul that are the best we can wish each other as Christians: I hope that everyone, that all of us, "Have among yourselves the same attitude that is also yours in Christ Jesus" (Phil 2: 5). All the attitudes of Jesus revolve around a single attitude, the most profound: "No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends" (Jn 15: 13). "You are my friends" (v. 14), Jesus tells us. And I have no other desire than to give my life for each one of you. I hope you feel the same: that everyone feels it toward me and also toward their friends, their children, their elders, their family. I hope that as a people we receive this grace: to feel the desire to give our lives for our brothers with whom we live in our beloved nation of Argentina.
