Dr. Mazariegos is a short, stout, childish-looking man with an innocent smile and chubby cheeks, furry as peaches. He wears leather leggings and rides a faded old mule that has done him service ever since he first came to Comitán with his shining new diploma under his arm.
The mule knows the house of everyone of the doctor's patients. Unerringly he stops at ours.
