Today they've been up and down Comitán with music and comic turns. A small, ricketty marimba, rattling like a skeleton; and behind it a swarm of barefoot urchins, curious Indians, and servants hiding their shopping baskets under their shawls. At every corner they stop, and a man stands on a box, cups his hands into a megaphone, and shouts:
"We offer you today a splendid circus performance! The world-famous contortionist, Don Pepe. The Irish loop executed with the utmost difficulty by the sisters Cordero. Trained dogs and clowns and snakes, all at popular prices for the amusement of the discriminating public of Comitán."
