When Mapes called Mathu, Candy moved between Mapes and the steps. The rest of us came in a little bit closer, too. Mapes looked around at the people closing in on him, but he wasn’t worried, and he looked back at Mathu. Mathu had stood up with his gun, and he was headed toward the steps.
