I must take a nap. My head has grown steadily heavier all morning and it is now 3 p.m. I feel as if someone is pouring layers of wet cement into my brain and watching it dry. Layer after layer, all is turning to concrete. Airtight. A tomb. A mausoleum to comprehension into which I keep chipping to engrave fact. I must rest.

It was a mistake to rest. My nap lasted three hours and I missed some of our precious few daylight hours. I awoke to Edgar's whimpers for food. I rose from bed feeling dizzy and disoriented. Then, I made the mistake of catching up on the news about the incident of November 1st. Worse, I read some of the emails floating about on university threads. All these theories. All these questions flying at me after perfunctory inquiries into my well-being. If I don't gather my thoughts and write everything down now, I will be assailed by others' perceptions of truth.
