Homily, Shrine of Saint Cajetan-August 7, 1999.

Dear brothers, I want to greet you all with great joy in the Lord and pray, with each of you, in this shrine that brings us together and shelters us. Here, with Saint Cajetan, we feel that our Father God gives us a place in his heart. We have a place in the heart of the Father! How beautiful is the grace of our faith! We have a safe and tender place. Tender as the little ear of wheat that the Saint has in his hand. That ear of wheat with its grains in a row reminds us that "standing in line and walking" to receive grace from the Saint is a gesture of hope. A safe and strong place like this shrine where the Spirit brings us all together, without excluding anyone, and makes us feel like the People of God, with one soul and one heart.
