Mrs. Dain's visit came to an end the Tuesday of the week following the reception. George and Cora begged her to stay longer, but she refused. She was a person of determination, who did her own thinking and settled her own problems. And, having decided that she should go, she went.

-"I have played long enough," she said. "I left my house in Cleveland in the care of the cook and housemaid. They are good servants and they have been with me a good many years, but they are jealous of each other and quarrel like cats and dogs. They both promised me to keep the house and the peace while I was away, and I think they both meant it. But I have had letters from each of them and I can see it is high time I went home. I don't mind seeing my name in the society notes of the newspapers, but I AM fussy when it comes to its getting into the police items. And I planned to go back about this time, anyway."
