From Valparaíso through the sea.
The Pacific, hard road of knives.
The dying sun, a guiding sky.
And the ship, an arid insect over the ocean.
Each day gives birth to a blaze, a crown.
The night is quenched: it thins out, it scatters.
Oh day, oh night, oh ships of shadow and illumination, twin ships!
Oh time, broken wake of the ship.
Slowly, we cut a path to Panama-the air is guiding.
Oh sea, extended flower of stillness!
We do not go, return, or know.
With eyes closed, we simply exist.
