Alyósha Popóvich

Alyósha Popóvich, born to a powerful family, exhibits extraordinary strength and prowess from a young age. Accompanied by his companion Marýshko, they arrive at the court of Prince Vladímir, where they are welcomed and offered food. During their visit, the notorious knight Túgarin Zmyéyevich invades the palace, mocking the prince and displaying his might. Alyósha, resting on a stove, engages in a verbal exchange with Túgarin, showcasing his confidence and wit. When Túgarin attacks, Alyósha cleverly avoids the confrontation, opting instead to face him in the open field the next day. As dawn breaks, Túgarin challenges Alyósha to a duel. Marýshko expresses frustration over Alyósha's reluctance to use a steel knife against Túgarin, but Alyósha insists on facing the threat honorably. He prepares for battle, praying for divine intervention to weaken Túgarin. The ensuing fight is fierce, with both knights demonstrating their strength and skill. Ultimately, Alyósha outmaneuvers Túgarin, delivering a decisive blow that defeats him. He triumphantly brings Túgarin's severed head back to Prince Vladímir, dispelling any fears of defeat.
