Children of Tomorrow by Arthur Leo Zagat
In the year 2045, the world is a very different place. The United States is a distant memory, replaced by a new global government. Technology has advanced to the point where humans can live forever, and the world is a utopia of peace and prosperity. But not everyone is happy. A group of rebels, led by the mysterious figure known only as the "Father of Tomorrow," is determined to overthrow the government and create a new world order. The Father of Tomorrow has a plan to use a powerful new technology to create an army of genetically-engineered super-soldiers. But the government is determined to stop him, and they enlist the help of a brilliant young scientist, Dr. David Anderson, to help them. Dr. Anderson soon discovers that the Father of Tomorrow's plan is far more sinister than anyone could have imagined. He must race against time to stop the rebels and save the world from destruction. But will he be able to do it in time?

Lying on the grass beside him, the warmth of her love enfolded Dikar like the warmth of the fire behind them and the scent of her in his nostrils was sweet and clean as the breath of the woods that enclosed the wide, long clearing. "I am so happy that I'm afraid, " Marilee went on. "Something out there in the night hates to see me so happy."
