Barry Goldwater (1909–1998) was an American politician, businessman, and author. He served as a U.S. Senator from Arizona and was the Republican Party's nominee for President in 1964. Goldwater is known for his book "The Conscience of a Conservative," which articulated his conservative political philosophy. He played a significant role in the resurgence of American conservatism in the mid-20th century.
