Going into Society

In Going into Society, Charles Dickens tells the story of a young man named John Westlock, who is sent to London by his guardian, Mr. Pecksniff, to learn the ways of society. John is eager to make his way in the world, but soon finds himself in a world of deceit and manipulation. He is taken in by a group of con artists, led by the mysterious Mr. Montague, who use him to gain access to the homes of wealthy families. John soon discovers that the people he thought were his friends are actually out to exploit him. He must find a way to escape their clutches and make his own way in the world. Along the way, he learns valuable lessons about the power of money and the importance of integrity.
