The Mystery of Edwin Drood is a novel by Charles Dickens, unfinished at the time of his death in 1870. It is the last novel he wrote and is set in the fictional English town of Cloisterham. The story follows the life of Edwin Drood, a young man who is engaged to be married to Rosa Bud. On the night of his engagement, Edwin disappears without a trace. His uncle, John Jasper, is the prime suspect in the case, as he is known to have a deep and passionate hatred for Edwin. The novel follows the investigation into Edwin's disappearance, as well as the lives of the other characters in Cloisterham. It is a mystery novel, with many twists and turns, and the reader is left to guess the outcome of the story.
