Daniel F. Galouye (1924-1976) was an American science fiction author. He is best known for his 1964 novel Simulacron-3, which was adapted into the 1999 film The Thirteenth Floor. Galouye was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and served in the United States Navy during World War II. After the war, he attended Tulane University, where he earned a degree in journalism. He worked as a journalist for several years before turning to writing science fiction. Galouye wrote several novels and short stories, many of which were published in magazines such as Galaxy Science Fiction and The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. His works often explored themes of virtual reality and artificial intelligence. Galouye died in 1976 at the age of 52.
