Edna Ferber

Born in 1885 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Raised in Chicago's West Side. Began writing at a young age, publishing her first short story in 1905. Moved to New York City in 1910 and began working as a journalist. Published her first novel in 1921. Known for her novels of American life, particularly those set in the Midwest. Won the Pulitzer Prize in 1925 for "So Big".
