Egerton Castle

Egerton Castle (1858–1920) was an English author and historian. He was born in London and educated at Eton College and Trinity College, Cambridge. He was a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and a member of the Royal Historical Society. Castle wrote several books on medieval and Tudor history, including The Romance of Chivalry (1890), The Great Governing Families of England (1896), and The Chronicles of England (1902). He also wrote a number of novels, including The Story of a Baronet (1890), The Story of a Modern Woman (1894), and The Story of a Prodigal Son (1897). Castle was a popular lecturer and was known for his wit and charm. He was also a keen amateur photographer and was a member of the Royal Photographic Society. He died in 1920 at the age of 62.
