Erle Cox (1873–1950) was an Australian author and journalist. He was born in Melbourne, Australia, and educated at the University of Melbourne. He worked as a journalist for the Melbourne Argus and the Melbourne Herald, and later as a freelance writer. Cox wrote a number of novels, including Out of the Silence (1919), The Forgotten Valley (1921), The Red Heart (1922), and The Red City (1925). He also wrote several non-fiction works, including The Romance of the Secret Service (1917) and The Romance of the Air (1919). Cox was a member of the Australian Authors' League and the Australian Journalists' Association. He was also a founding member of the Australian Society of Authors. He died in 1950 in Melbourne.
