Erskine Childers was a British novelist and Irish nationalist who lived from 1870 to 1922. He is best known for writing the novel "The Riddle of the Sands", a spy thriller published in 1903. Childers served as a naval officer in the Royal Navy before becoming involved in Irish politics, eventually joining the Irish Republican Brotherhood.
