Popol Vuh by Francisco Ximénez
Popol Vuh is an ancient Mayan book of creation stories and mythology. It was written by the K'iche' Maya people of Guatemala in the 16th century and is considered to be one of the most important works of Mesoamerican literature.
The book is divided into three parts. The first part tells the story of the creation of the world and the gods who inhabit it. It also tells the story of the Hero Twins, Hunahpu and Xbalanque, who battle the Lords of Death and ultimately triumph.
The second part of the book tells the story of the K'iche' people and their migration from the east to the highlands of Guatemala. It also tells the story of the K'iche' people's struggles against the Spanish conquistadors.
The third part of the book is a collection of stories, songs, and prayers. It includes stories about the gods, the Hero Twins, and the K'iche' people.
