The first volume of Cumner's Son and other South Sea Folk by Gilbert Parker contains a collection of short stories set in the Pacific Islands during the late nineteenth century. The title story, "Cumner's Son," follows the journey of a young man who leaves his home in England to seek adventure and fortune in the South Seas. Other stories in the collection include "The White Waterfall," "The Little Brown Man," and "The Pearl Fishers."
