Henryk Sienkiewicz (1846-1916) was a Polish novelist and Nobel Prize winner. He is best known for his historical novels, which include Quo Vadis (1896), The Teutonic Knights (1883), and With Fire and Sword (1884). He was born in Wola Okrzejska, Poland, and studied at the Warsaw University of Technology. He worked as a journalist and wrote for several newspapers before becoming a full-time novelist. His works often focused on Polish history and culture, and he was a strong advocate for Polish independence. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1905 for his novel Quo Vadis. He died in Vevey, Switzerland in 1916.
