Herbert Strang (1866-1954) was a British author and journalist who wrote over 100 books for children and young adults. He was born in London and educated at King's College, Cambridge. He began his career as a journalist, writing for The Times, The Daily Telegraph, and The Spectator. He also wrote for the Boy's Own Paper and The Girl's Own Paper. Strang wrote adventure stories, historical fiction, and biographies. His most famous works include The Story of the Great War (1914-1918), The Story of the World War (1939-1945), and The Story of the Boer War (1899-1902). He also wrote a number of books about the British Empire, including The Story of the British Empire (1925) and The Story of the British Navy (1927). Strang was a prolific writer, and his books were popular with both children and adults. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1948 for his services to literature. He died in 1954 at the age of 88.
