James Ewing Ritchie

James Ewing Ritchie (1863-1941) was a Scottish author and journalist. He was born in Edinburgh and educated at the University of Edinburgh. He worked as a journalist for the Edinburgh Evening News and the Glasgow Herald. Ritchie wrote several books, including The Story of Scotland (1902), The Story of the British Empire (1905), and The Story of the World (1909). He also wrote several novels, including The House of the Four Winds (1908) and The House of the Seven Gables (1910). Ritchie was a member of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society and the Royal Society of Literature. He was also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1920 for his services to literature.
