John Hilton (1894-1954) was an English novelist, playwright, and screenwriter. He is best known for his 1933 novel Lost Horizon, which was adapted into a 1937 film of the same name. He also wrote the novel Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1934), which was adapted into a 1939 film. His other works include Random Harvest (1941), So Well Remembered (1945), and The Story of Dr. Wassell (1944). He wrote several plays, including And So to Bed (1926) and The Doctor's Dilemma (1928). He also wrote the screenplay for the 1937 film The Prisoner of Zenda.
