Eagle and Stag by James McIntyre
In a remote Highland glen, a herd of deer grazes peacefully, unaware of the lurking danger above. An eagle, with fierce intent, targets the majestic stag, the leader of the herd. The eagle descends swiftly, striking the stag with its powerful talons and attempting to feast on its blood. The stag, initially caught off guard, quickly realizes the threat and retaliates, using its antlers to fend off the eagle. The battle intensifies as the eagle, undeterred, continues its assault from the air, seeking to inflict further harm. The stag, though injured, demonstrates resilience and cunning, rolling down the hill in an effort to dislodge the predator. This tactic proves effective, as the eagle is forced to retreat momentarily. As the eagle regains altitude, it prepares for another attack, but the stag manages to escape into the safety of the nearby woods. The eagle, frustrated and hungry, is left to search for another meal, returning to its nest with its pride wounded. Meanwhile, the stag is celebrated by the does, who admire his bravery in defending against the fierce predator. The encounter highlights themes of survival, courage, and the struggle between predator and prey in the natural world.
