John Sandes (1868-1937) was an Australian author and journalist. He was born in Sydney and educated at Sydney Grammar School. He worked as a journalist for the Sydney Morning Herald and the Sydney Mail, and wrote several books, including A Bush Bayard (1913), a novel about a young Australian man who goes to the Boer War. He also wrote a number of plays, including The Bush King (1914) and The Bushranger (1915). He was a member of the Australian Journalists' Association and the Australian Authors' Association. He died in 1937 in Sydney.
