The story closes eleven months later, with Mitchell back at the UNACMEA/WAGS console, revealing that he and Elaine have since had a two-month-old daughter who has inherited her mother's instability and high "gauss tolerance," causing the infant to flit unpredictably between the world's synchrotrons just as Elaine once did.
