The book explores the concept of surrender as a means to achieve spiritual growth and inner peace. It argues that traditional notions of success and achievement often lead to feelings of emptiness and disconnection. The author proposes an alternative path, one that involves embracing vulnerability, letting go of control, and trusting in a higher power. Through a combination of personal anecdotes, biblical teachings, and philosophical insights, the book offers practical guidance on how to cultivate a sense of surrender in daily life. It covers topics such as the importance of humility, the dangers of pride, and the value of forgiveness. Ultimately, the book presents surrender not as a defeat or a loss of power, but rather as a liberating act that allows individuals to break free from the burdens of ego and expectation. By embracing surrender, readers are encouraged to find a deeper sense of purpose, meaning, and connection with themselves and others.

THE FIGURE OF DAVID in flight, as narrated in 2 Samuel 15 and 16, will help us to understand better what it means to find ourselves in a precarious situation and then surrender to God. King David is in a humiliating retreat, pursued by his own son, Absalom, but, even in such straits, his humility and his noble qualities stand out. David recognizes the sacred character of his flight, which is truly a form of exodus, and so he proceeds with utter calm, his heart surrendered to God's designs. His situation is not unlike that of the Jews when they are carried off to Babylon (cf. Psalms 14: 7; 61; 77).
