THE FIRST ENTRY of Jesus into the temple is proclaimed to us in Luke 2: 22-40. The first reading of today's liturgy tells us, "Suddenly he will enter his temple" (Mal 3: 1-4). The one who enters the temple is a human being with flesh like ours: having our same blood and our same flesh, he shares in our condition (cf. Heb 2: 14-18). This is the first time since that fateful afternoon in Eden that our human flesh enters justified into the Father's house. Centuries have passed, and now the promise is fulfilled.
