The Duel by Joseph Conrad (1908)

A young man and a middle-aged man engage in a duel over the young man's infidelity with the middle-aged man's wife. The duel takes place on a frozen lake, where the young man shoots the middle-aged man but does not kill him. The middle-aged man then shoots the young man, killing him.
