Joyce Kilmer

Joyce Kilmer (1886-1918) was an American poet, journalist, and literary critic. He is best known for his poem "Trees," which was published in the collection Trees and Other Poems in 1914. Kilmer was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and attended Rutgers University and Columbia University. He worked as a journalist for The New York Times and The New York Sun, and wrote several books of poetry and literary criticism. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1917 and was killed in action in France during World War I. His works have been widely anthologized and his poem "Trees" is one of the most famous poems in American literature.
