A young boy from a small farm discovers he has magical powers and sets out on a journey to the Emerald City with a dog and a horse. Along the way, they encounter various obstacles and creatures, including flying monkeys and a witch who tries to kill them. The boy's journey is motivated by his desire to meet the Wizard of Oz, who he believes can help him return home after a tornado destroyed his house.
