Muhammad (c. 570–632) was an Arab religious, social, and political leader and the founder of Islam. According to Islamic doctrine, he was a prophet, sent to present and confirm the monotheistic teachings preached previously by Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and other prophets. He is viewed as the final prophet of God in all the main branches of Islam, though some modern denominations diverge from this belief. Muhammad is almost universally considered by Muslims as the last prophet sent by God to mankind. He is believed to have been the recipient of a revelation, now known as the Quran, which was later written down and compiled during his lifetime and after his death. He is also believed to have performed miracles, including the splitting of the moon, and to have been responsible for the spread of Islam throughout the Arabian Peninsula. Muhammad is also known as the Messenger of God, the Seal of the Prophets, and the Master of the Messengers. He is also known as the Prophet of Mercy, the Prophet of Compassion, and the Prophet of Peace. He is also known as the Prophet of Justice, the Prophet of Equality, and the Prophet of Mercy. He is also known as the Prophet of Love, the Prophet of Mercy, and the Prophet of Forgiveness.
