Sir Rat by Oliver Herford (1910)
In a barn, two young kittens, Tommy and Fluffy, express their curiosity about the world outside their basket. Tommy, eager for adventure, persuades Fluffy to join him despite their mother's warning to stay put. Fluffy is apprehensive, particularly about encountering a rat. Tommy boasts of his bravery, claiming he can protect her. As they venture out, they are startled by noises, but Tommy reassures Fluffy.
