Jane Gets Off the Fairway

The story revolves around Jane, who has been living apart from her husband William due to her own selfish desires. She has been neglecting their child, Braid, and prioritizing her own ambitions over family life. Jane's world is turned upside down when she discovers that Rodney Spelvin, a man she had been seeing, has been telling every girl he meets that they are the inspiration for his art. This revelation sparks a crisis of conscience in Jane, who realizes how selfish she has been and how much she has neglected her family. Just as Jane is coming to terms with her mistakes, William appears at her doorstep, having been sending her white violets on their anniversary every year. The gesture touches Jane's heart, and she is overcome with emotion as she reunites with her husband. The story ends with Jane and William deciding to return to their little cottage together, leaving behind the selfish ambitions that had driven them apart.
