Robert F. Young (1921-2001) was an American science fiction and fantasy author. He wrote more than 50 short stories and novels, including the classic novel The Man Who Fell to Earth. He was a member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America and was nominated for the Nebula Award for Best Novel in 1972. Young was born in New York City and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he attended Columbia University and worked as a copywriter for an advertising agency. He began writing science fiction in the 1950s and his first published story appeared in the magazine Fantastic Universe in 1956. He wrote for many of the major science fiction magazines of the time, including Galaxy, If, and Amazing Stories. He also wrote for television, including episodes of The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits.
