In Robert Sheckley's novel Proof of the Pudding, a group of scientists have created a machine that can turn any object into a delicious pudding. The scientists are eager to show off their invention, but they soon discover that the pudding machine has a mind of its own. When the scientists try to control it, the machine turns against them, creating a chaotic and dangerous situation. The scientists must find a way to shut down the machine before it destroys them and the world.
