Captains Courageous is a novel by Rudyard Kipling, first published in 1897. It is set in the Grand Banks of Newfoundland and tells the story of Harvey Cheyne, a spoiled and arrogant young man who is saved from drowning after falling off an ocean liner. He is taken aboard a fishing schooner, the We're Here, and learns the hard life of a fisherman. Through his experiences, Harvey learns the value of hard work and humility, and eventually earns the respect of the crew. The novel is considered a classic of children's literature and has been adapted into several films.
