Samuel Richardson (1689–1761) was an English writer and printer, best known for his epistolary novels. He was born in Derbyshire and moved to London, where he became a successful printer. His major works include "Pamela, or Virtue Rewarded" (1740), "Clarissa, or the History of a Young Lady" (1748), and "The History of Sir Charles Grandison" (1753). Richardson's novels are noted for their exploration of character psychology and moral themes.
