Sidney Austen (1902-1962) was an English author and playwright. He was born in London and educated at the University of Oxford. He wrote several plays and novels, including The Frightened Planet (1948). He was also a prolific writer of short stories, many of which were published in magazines such as The Strand and Punch. He was a member of the British Drama League and the British Society of Authors. He was also a member of the Royal Society of Literature. He died in 1962.
