Sylvia Townsend Warner (1893–1978) was an English novelist and poet. She gained recognition with her debut novel, "Lolly Willowes" (1926), which was notable for its feminist themes. Warner was also a prolific short story writer, contributing to "The New Yorker" for over four decades. Her works often explore themes of independence, societal norms, and the supernatural. In addition to fiction, she published poetry and was involved in musicology, co-editing a collection of 15th-century carols. Warner was openly in a long-term relationship with Valentine Ackland, a fellow writer.
